Why Heat?

Four Ways to Stay Warm

Feet and hands get cold first because your body pulls warmth back to your core. Hotronic puts the heat back at your toes and fingers. Here’s how each system works and what we carry in it.

Heat Socks

Warm toes, nothing in the boot

A thin compression sock with the heating element built in at the toes, powered by a pair of Hotronic battery packs. Nothing to install in your boot, so it moves from boot to boot.

Battery Power Sets

The engine of the system

Rechargeable Li-ion packs (sold as a pair with a recharger) that power the socks. Bluetooth models let you set the heat from the free Hotronic heat app. Choose by how long your days are.

Heated Gloves & Mitts

Fingers that stay warm all day

Waterproof, windproof ski gloves and mitts with Surround heating around the fingers, a Boost mode for the coldest chairlift, and built-in battery packs.

Boot Heaters & Bootcaps

Heat or insulation at the boot

XLP C heat elements sit in the boot under your footbed; our boot fitters install them. Bootcaps are the no-battery option: foam insulation stuck over the boot’s toe box.

Pair It With a Boot Fit

Warm feet start with a boot that fits

A boot that’s too tight cuts circulation and makes feet cold, heated or not. Our 3D-scanned boot fitting and custom footbeds pair with Hotronic socks and boot heaters for all-day warmth.

Hotronic FAQ

Heated Socks, Gloves & Battery Questions

Straight answers using Hotronic’s own specs.

How do Hotronic heat socks work? +
Our answer

Each sock has a Surround heating element that wraps the toes and warms them top and bottom, wired into a thin compression sock. A pair of rechargeable Hotronic Li-ion battery packs powers them; Bluetooth models are adjusted from the free Hotronic heat app. Because the heat is in the sock, nothing is installed in your boot, and you can wear them in any boot.

How long does the heat last? +
Our answer

By Hotronic’s ratings: the Power Set XLP 2S BT gives a category-best 18 hours of warmth and the XLP 1S BT gives 10 hours. The HeatGlove XLP 2G heats for up to 12 hours and the HeatMitt XLP 1G for up to 6 hours. The P-series packs are rated by capacity (2200 mAh for the 1P BT, 4400 mAh for the 2P BT); like any heated gear, run time depends on the heat level you use, so a higher setting or Boost mode shortens it.

Which battery set should I buy? +
Our answer

Pick by the length of your day. A full resort day on cold days: the 2S BT (18 hours) or the 2P BT (4400 mAh). Shorter sessions or lighter use: the 1S BT (10 hours) or 1P BT (2200 mAh). Every set we sell is a pair of packs with a recharger. Hotronic sells its EVO heat socks in sets with S-series batteries and its Surround socks with P-series batteries; if you already own Hotronic batteries, bring them in and we’ll confirm what pairs with them.

Can I control the heat from my phone? +
Our answer

Yes, on all the “BT” models. They’re controllable via Bluetooth and the Hotronic heat app, which shows your charge status and heat level. Hotronic’s app is free on the App Store and Google Play.

How do I charge them, and how long does it take? +
Our answer

The battery power sets come with Hotronic’s recharger and use intelligent charging; the P-series packs can also charge over USB. The HeatGlove XLP 2G charges in 5–6 hours and the HeatMitt XLP 1G in 3–4 hours, so charge overnight and they’re ready for the morning.

Heated glove or heated mitt: what’s the difference? +
Our answer

The HeatGlove Set Performance XLP 2G is a 5-finger glove with a 4400 mAh battery and up to 12 hours of heat. The HeatMitt Set Performance XLP 1G is a mitten with a finger division and individually heated fingers, a 2200 mAh battery and up to 6 hours. Both are waterproof and windproof, have cut protection against ski edges and a Boost mode, and come in sizes 6–11.

Heat socks or boot heaters: which is better for me? +
Our answer

Heat socks keep the heating in the sock, so they work in any boot and need no installation. Boot heaters (Hotronic XLP C heat elements) are fitted inside the ski boot under your footbed and powered by XLP C battery packs; they’re a good fit if you always ski the same boots. We install Hotronic boot heaters in our boot-fitting shop. Call us to set it up.

What is a Bootcap, and does it need batteries? +
Our answer

No batteries. A Bootcap is foam insulation that sticks to the outside of your ski boot’s toe box to hold in your own body heat, and it doesn’t interfere with how the boot works. It’s one size fits all. Bootcap rates it at up to 20° warmer toes. It’s the simplest, lowest-cost step for skiers whose toes get cold, and it pairs well with heat socks.

What sizes do the socks and gloves come in? +
Our answer

Surround Thin and Surround Race heat socks come in XS–XL, the Surround Thin EVO in S–XL, and the HeatGlove and HeatMitt in sizes 6–11. Heat socks should fit snugly, since the heat has to sit against your toes, and they have gentle PFI 30 compression (5–10 mmHg). We’ll size you in the shop, and we can check sock fit in your own boots.

Are the heated gloves waterproof? +
Our answer

Yes. Hotronic lists both the HeatGlove and the HeatMitt as waterproof and windproof, with integrated cut protection against damage from ski edges.

Is everything in stock? +
Our answer

Sizes with a green dot are on our shelf now. Sizes marked “special order” are ordered from Hotronic for you when you buy online: we confirm your size and arrival date by email, typically 7–10 business days, and hold it for pickup or ship it to you.
